Something I really love about sunsets and the lights and colors they throw out, is how many different shades I have seen them cast. Specifically here it was a red orangey color topped off with a purple layer, followed by the blue sky. The picture doesn't really do it any justice. Seeing it reminded me of earlier this month when I was returning to LA on an airplane. It was around 5am and there was this beautiful purple hue out side all the windows. I had never seen a purple sky until then. Fast forward two weeks and now I was seeing a hint of that same purple on my way home from CalState. Another thing to note with this sunset, as well as sunsets in general, is the way the lights bounce off the horizon. Again, this picture doesn't do it justice. My phone cannot handle the excess beauty I assume. But the rooftops of the buildings, the houses and even some streets reflected some of the red light. the closer structures didn't do this but the ones further away. It seemed as though the sun was literally painting the town. Usually, I see that in the morning, but not that day.
I also always loved the looks of lights in a dark town or city. It's not very obvious here, but they give me a warm comforting feeling, like a homey vibe. All you see are vague outlines and yellow lights spotting an area. I didn't notice, however, the glaring white light used to light the steps at night. The beauty and comfort of all the other lights in this scene actually drowned it out, as forefront and obvious as it was.
Wonderful sunset image! Love how it's completely broken up by something so cage-like and unnatural...really throws a contrasting twist to the story of this image...love the colors and energy being cast out! nice!
